Synopsis:

The Cotton Club is the place to be. Gangsters mingle with the very rich, the very famous and the very beautiful, each vying for power and position. In this glittering underworld, where violence hides beneath the cloak of glamour, a young cornet player, Dixie Dwyer [Richard Gere] inadvertently saves the life of much-feared mobster Dutch [James Remar], and finds himself being drawn into his world. Meanwhile, a talented young dancer, Sandman Williams [Gregory Hines] struggles against prejudice in his search for success, desperate to gain recognition from the aristocracy of the gangster world. Before long, both Dixie and Sandman discover the world they find themselves in is not easy to escape. When Dixie meets Dutch’s young and beautiful girlfriend, the stakes grow higher, especially when his younger brother [Nicolas Cage] find his way onto Dutch’s payroll… Filled with music and dance, The Cotton Club is award winning director Francis Coppola’s acclaimed take on the crime-filled underworld of the infamous Jazz age.
