Based on a true story, The Emerald Forest features Powers Boothe (Sin City) as Bill Markham, an American engineer working on a dam project in the Brazilian jungle. When a local tribe known as ‘The Invisible People’ abducts his infant son, Markham begins a ten-year search to find him, only to discover evnentually that his boy has grown into a fully-fledged tribesman. Can Markham persuade him to return to civilisation? Returning to some of the themes that informed Deliverance, most notable the battle between man and nature and capitalist greed, the film inspired visionary director John Boorman. Beautifully shot by the veteran Philippe Rousselot, the film also stars Charley Boorman in his breakthrough role and a cast of indigenous Indians.
