Synopsis:
Hugo Dill lives in two worlds. One is the hard – and cold – world of reality in which he is a rink sweeper at an ice show. The other is the highly colourful world of the pulp detective magazine, which he reads to the point of mania. He wins Fabian the bloodhound and £100 in a magazine competition, and although the dog chases him and showgirl Frankie into the ice show, wrecking it and resulting in their being fired, the prize money helps him to fulfil his ambition of becoming a private detective.
