City of Lost Children is written and directed by the Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet, both of whom also wrote and directed the highly acclaimed film Delicatessan. Tormented scientist Krank lives his life without dreams, determined to have the ability to dream he comes up with the idea of stealing dreams from children and then implanting them into his mind. To do this his henchmen kidnap local children and bring them to his secret island, though as all the children are scared of their surroundings all Krank ends up with is their nightmares. When a locals fisherman, One (Ron Perlman), finds out his brother has been kidnapped he sets of to the island to rescue him, he's joined on his journey by young girl Miette who has her own reason to get to the island.
