On December 20th 1968, a teenage couple is viciously murdered at a desolate lover’s lane sending shock waves through a small Northern Californian town. Sergeant Matt Parish (Chambers) takes on the case. With few leads to go on the investigation comes to a standstill and when a rogue reporter sensationalizes the tragedy panic spreads through the once quiet community. At home the horrible murders and failing investigation have a dramatic effect on not only Parish’s emotional health, but his family’s. The situation escalates when the killer guns down a young couple in the midst of the festive summer holiday. Within an hour of the attack the Police receive a taunting phone call confessing to the murders. A letter is sent to Bay Area newspapers threatening to kill a dozen more- within it is a cryptogram that could be the vital clue to unlocking the killer’s identity. Determined to end the madness and terror, Parish descends into the all-consuming complexity of the case. The composite sketches, psychological profiles and bizarre astrological profiles become a desperate obsession, pushing he and his family to the edge of ruin. Parish has everything to lose and everything to gain if he can solve the mystery and catch the infamous Zodiac killer.
