Tracy (Nicole Kidman) and Andy (Bill Pulman)are newlyweds restoring their dream house in a small in Massachussets when Andy meets up with his old med-school buddy and hot-shot surgeon Jed (Alec Baldwin). Against Tracy's wishes,Andy invites Jed to stay at their home, not realising that his decision will turn their worls upside down. Things take a turn for the worse when Tracy is rushed to hospital and operated on by Jed, whose professional arrogande is starting to get out of control...
