Synopsis:

'In this World' is a compelling and timely look at an asylum-seekers’ hazardous route into Europe. Directed by Michael Winterbottom, one of Britain’s most prolific and innovative filmmakers, In this World tells the story if Afghani Jamal and his older cousin Enayatulla who set out from a refugee camp in Pakistan on the hazardous and uncertain asylum-seekers’ route overland to seek a better life in Europe. They travel through Iran and across the border into Turkey where they are loaded into a metal sea freight container. On arrival in Italy, Jamal is one of the few survivors amongst his suffocated travelling companions. Jamal eventually arrives at the French camp of Sangatte and smuggles himself into the UK by train. Alone in London, Jamal must tell his uncle back home that Enayat is no longer “in this world”.
