Not far from the rock, Ivan, a captain of the Soviet Army has a narrow escape from the secret service. As abandoned soldiers from the two enemy armies in a war zone, their survival still depends on luck, which comes in the shape of a young Lapp woman, Anni. She gives both men refuge at her hut by the shore. To her, they are not enemies, just men and she has been without her husband for some time. The peculiar situation the three find themselves in is heightened by the discovery that each of them only speaks their own language Finnish, Russian or Lapp.
