John Wintergreen (Robert Blake) is a pint-sized Arizona cop who is tired of riding around on a motorcycle. He would like to become a detective and ride in a patrol car for a change. Wintergreen gets his chance when he and his partner, Zipper Davis (Billy “Green” Bush), find a prospector dead in his shack. It looks like suicide, but Wintergreen thinks it’s murder. The autopsy proves him right, and he is assigned to work with detective Harve Poole (Mitchell Ryan). Through Harve Poole, Wintergreen is introduced to paranoia, senseless violence, and corruption. His illusions shattered, Wintergreen is busted back down to motorcycle cop when he inadvertently learns of his superior’s sexual problems. But back on the road, will Wintergreen find that he can return to the simpler world he once knew and tried so hard to escape?
