Synopsis:

Deep within uncharted regions of the South Pacific, a ruthless oil executive and his crew are on an expedition. Their mission is to find unexplored territory in hope of exploiting its resources. What they find is the legendary Skull Island. Upon arriving on its shores they discover a strange and primitive world of mystery and danger, a place that very few explorers have managed to survive to tell the tale. For legend has it that on those very shores the natives worship a giant ape god named Kong, a wild and savage beast that can only be appeased by human sacrifice. One of the first “event movies” this 1976 reworking of the classic monster, adventure story was the most expensive film ever made on its year of release. Directed by John Guillermin (The Towering Inferno) and starring Jeff Bridges (The Big Lebowski, Iron Man), Charles Grodin (Midnight Run, The Heartbreak Kid) and Jessica Lange (The Postman Always Rings Twice, Broken Flowers), it also features an unforgettable score by legendary composer John Barry and award winning special effects by Carlo Rambaldi (E.T- The Extra Terrestrial, Alien).
