Shipwrecked survivor Andrew Braddock (MICHAEL YORK, Logan’s Run) washes up on the beach of a lost Pacific island where he finds reclusive Scientist Dr. Moreau (BURT LANCASTER, Birdman of Alcatraz). As Braddock recuperates, the doctor explains to him his experimental theories of isolating chromosomes in living organisms and altering the shape and DNA of them. Braddock is more interested in the beautiful Maria (BARBARA CARRERA, Never Say Never Again) who also lives in residence there, but when Braddock sneaks away to the other side of the island, he discovers the horrifying results of Moreau’s experiments - hideous creatures mutated into animal form. Braddock decides to escape the island and take Maria with him but Moreau has other ideas for him whilst the strange beast creatures look down on their creator and realise he may not be the perfect God they had conceived him to be. Directed by DON TAYLOR (Escape from the Planet of the Apes and Damien: Omen II ) and based upon the story by H.G.WELLS, The Island of Dr. Moreau is a classic tale of horror and science gone wrong.
