In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Tony Hancock was at the height of his comedic powers, aided by the writing of Ray Galton and Alan Simpson. During this period Hancock starred in the satire The Rebel and the dark comedy The Punch & Judy Man. THE REBEL (1961) Hancock plays a downtrodden office clerk who decides to give up his office job to become an artist. He sets to work on his masterpiece and moves to Paris where he believes his genius will be appreciated.
