Released originally in France as L'Evénement le plus Important depuis que l'Homme a Marché sur la Lune, this robust farce demonstrates director Demy’s ability to make a workable comedy out of the least likely of sources. Marcello Mastrioanni (La Dolce Vita) plays Marco, who goes to see his doctor and complains of feeling run down, and much to his surprise is pronounced four months pregnant. Mastrioanni excels in the central role, blending comedy and pathos whilst Catherine Deneuve lends characteristically sterling support. Michel Legrand - Demy’s regular collaborator – supplies the effervescent songs.
