Ray is a man on the edge. His best friend inconveniently died mid joke. Suddenly obsessed with his own mortality – not to mention the punchline that he seems doomed never to hear – Ray rushes from doctor to doctor, searching for a cure to all manner of imaginary symptoms. Before long, even his wife is beginning to wish he would just do the decent thing and die. Are Ray’s aches and pains truly signs of impending death, or does Ray juts need to learn that all he has to fear is fear itself?
